Template versioning
Every spreadsheet you upload to a model is versioned automatically. A template
version is numbered major.minor (for example 1.0, 1.1, 2.0). The current
version is shown in the model's version management.
By default a new upload creates a new minor version inside the current major version. When uploading you can choose No version change, Minor version change, or Major version change.
File versions and datasets
When a dataset is saved, Nooxl Apps also stores which template version was used. Add the File version column to the dataset list to see it per dataset.
Automatic use of the latest version
When opening a dataset, Nooxl always uses the latest available version within the dataset's major version. The selection area shows what happens:
| Indicator | Meaning |
|---|---|
File version: 4.3 | The dataset already uses the latest version; nothing newer applies. |
File version: 4.1 → 4.3 (Update) | The dataset was last saved with 4.1 and now opens with the newest version (4.3) of the same major version. |
File version: 3.1 (current: 4.3!) | The dataset uses major version 3, so no upgrade happens, but a newer major version 4.3 exists and can be selected manually. |
File version: 2.1 → 2.2 (current: 4.3!) | Upgrades within major version 2 (to 2.2), while the latest overall is 4.3. |
When a dataset is not on the latest major version, its model name shows with a red background instead of the usual green.
New or changed sections in Design mode do not create a new template version. To create one, download the spreadsheet and upload it again.
Selection release
Like templates, dataset selections are versioned as selection releases. In Design mode you can create new selection releases and delete them. The version dropdown in the dataset selection lets users switch between selection releases to reach older major versions of the model.
Creating a new selection release automatically creates a new major version of the model. Adding or removing selections also creates a new selection release.
